The history of the new direction

The company new direction was founded in 1998 by Michael Robert Biber and Stephan Weber.
Originally entering the market as a creator of cross-industry custom software, new direction now offers optimal digitalization of complete business processes.

1998

Fellow students Michael Robert Biber and Stephan Weber found new direction oHG while still studying computer science in October.
The company is initially based in a 15-square-meter office in the "Siemens Technopark Augsburg".
The PCs and all the office equipment come from the founders' private property.
The basic idea of new direction is reflected in the slogan "your solution": we find a software-based solution to every business problem.
Even then, new direction offered an end-to-end service: from server procurement to software development and system commissioning.

2000

The first employee, another fellow student, is hired.
At the same time, larger premises are rented in the "Siemens Technopark Augsburg".
The first well-known customers such as IDG Verlag and Office Depot count on the solutions of new direction.

2001

Further growth of new direction oHG and therefore another relocation.
The company headquarters are relocated to Depotstraße in Augsburg.
Renaming of new direction oHG to new direction GmbH.
The first projects for later TÜV SÜD subsidiaries are implemented.
The first Europe-wide solutions are realized.

2003

New direction GmbH begins to focus on the automotive sector.
Relocation of the company headquarters to Piechlerstraße in Neusäß.
BMW AG is acquired as a customer.

2008

Ten-year anniversary of new direction GmbH.

2015

new direction GmbH doubles its office space in Piechlerstrasse.
A number of market-leading companies now place their trust in new direction's innovative solutions.
In addition to professional and technical expertise, the focus remains on implementing customer-specific requirements with above-average speed.

2018

Twenty years after the founding of new direction GmbH, a new milestone has been reached.
With a strategic realignment, a new logo, and a new website, the company is expanding its target customer base and its portfolio of services.

2023

Twenty-five years after the founding of new direction GmbH, the company is relocating to the “new center of Neusäß.”
The company’s social engagement is increasingly focused on the Augsburg region.
We create optimal digital processes.

Expansion into the defense technology sector. Awarded a contract by the Swiss Confederation through an open WTO tender for the maintenance, support, and further development of .NET-based specialized applications (contract term: 2024 to 2028).

2024

Participation in the Ground Station for a 150-kilogram-class unmanned aerial system (BM Defence and Security AG).

Permanent mission of Switzerland.

Our office in St. Gallen serves as our permanent representative office in Switzerland. From there, we serve Swiss clients with specialized staff on weekdays from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. The office is registered in the Swiss Commercial Register as a branch office of new direction GmbH Neusäß.
