In complex development environments, the precise analysis and evaluation of technical measurement data is a decisive factor for quality, safety and innovation. This is particularly true in the field of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Together with the internal EMC department of a large company, new direction GmbH has developed a system that takes the recording, visualization and analysis of EMC measurement data to a new level: a web-based solution for central data storage, automatic evaluation and a sound basis for decision-making.

The Problem

The initial situation was characterized by manual processes and decentralized data storage. EMC measurement data was stored in different formats, the component evaluations were distributed - without a standardized structure or common storage locations. Reports were created manually by copying and pasting measurement graphs - a time-consuming process that was prone to errors and tied up valuable resources.

Comparing individual measurements was only possible in a roundabout way, often using Word or Excel documents. There was also no way to systematically analyze raw data. A uniform evaluation strategy was lacking, as was a structured database for sustainable documentation and further development.

The Solution

The collaboration with new direction GmbH began as early as the conception phase: we supported the internal EMC department in analyzing existing processes, jointly developed a viable solution concept and supported the coordination with other system partners.

Interface prototypes and implementation

In order to validate the feasibility of the concept, we developed initial interface prototypes together with the system partners involved. After successful validation, new direction GmbH took over the implementation and put the system into production together with the EMC department and the partners.

Central database and automated evaluation

At the heart of the system is a powerful database in which all EMC measurement data is stored centrally and structured. Component evaluations are uniformly documented and permanently archived. Measurement data is fed live into the system, including automatic report generation directly at the time of measurement.

An integrated visualization and analysis tool enables the targeted comparison of individual measurement series - quickly, clearly and comprehensibly. Filter and search functions facilitate evaluation. The connection to various EMC software systems ensures high compatibility and a broad database. In addition, the vehicle status is automatically read in and taken into account.

Rollout, training and maintenance

After the successful rollout, new direction GmbH also took over the training of the users - practical and application-oriented. We are also responsible for the maintenance, further development and support of the system to ensure its long-term operation.

Value enhancement

The EMC department now has a central system for all relevant data - a single point of truth. The automatic report generation not only saves time, but also increases data quality. The systematic comparison of measurement results creates transparency and enables targeted measures to be taken in the event of deviations.

Uniform evaluation strategies and consistent documentation ensure comparability across all components and sample phases - regardless of organizational changes or personnel changes. Thanks to the integrated comparison with applicable standards, risks are identified at an early stage and can be addressed in a targeted manner. Topics such as data protection, information security and backup strategies are also an integral part of the overall concept.

The system has created the ideal database for the AI modules that we will set up in the future.
