Different locations, technical parameters, maintenance cycles, and documentation requirements must be centrally managed and reliably tracked. If these processes are still organized in a decentralized manner or using siloed solutions, this leads to unnecessary effort and a lack of transparency.

Your solar park manager also faced this challenge. The goal was to find a modern platform that would allow for the efficient management of solar plants, the digitization of processes, and the centralized provision of information. new direction GmbH took on the design and complete redevelopment of a web-based management platform.

The Problem

Managing a growing fleet of assets requires structured processes and a database that is always available. Until now, information on locations, technical parameters, maintenance tasks, and documents was not available in a single, integrated application. This increased the manual administrative burden, and important information had to be gathered from various sources.

There was also a need for secure user management with clear role and permission models. Different user groups needed to be able to access relevant areas in a targeted manner without compromising security or usability.

Furthermore, the new solution needed to be maintainable, scalable, and efficient to operate in the long term—including automated development and deployment processes.

The Solution

new direction GmbH developed a powerful, web-based management platform using Blazor Server-Side. The goal was to consolidate all relevant management processes related to solar power systems into a modern, centralized application.

The browser-based interface was implemented using MudBlazor and offers an intuitive, interactive user experience without the need for additional JavaScript frameworks. This resulted in a high-performance, easy-to-maintain solution with clear operational logic.

Microsoft Identity was integrated for security and user management. Users can authenticate centrally, while role-based permissions ensure that each user can access only the functions and data relevant to them.

On the backend, new direction GmbH relied on .NET 8 with C# and Entity Framework as the data access layer for Microsoft SQL Server. This enabled the implementation of stable, scalable processes and structured data management.

Additionally, document generation features were integrated. Structured Excel exports using OpenXML and PDF reports using PdfSharp enable the quick and professional output of relevant information.

Another key focus was on sustainable software delivery. CI/CD pipelines were set up using Azure DevOps to enable automated builds, tests, and deployments. Complemented by unit tests, quality assurance was firmly embedded in the development process.

With the new platform, your solar park manager has a centralized digital solution for managing solar installations and related processes. Information is now available in a structured format, workflows are organized more efficiently, and administrative tasks are significantly reduced.

Thanks to the integrated role and permission system, users benefit from high security and clearly defined responsibilities. At the same time, automated reports and exports simplify daily work as well as communication with internal and external stakeholders.

A future-proof technical foundation has also been established. The modern architecture, automated deployments, and high maintainability ensure that the platform can scale to meet future requirements.

The project demonstrates how digital administrative processes in the renewable energy sector can be implemented efficiently, securely, and sustainably.
